While bios can be interesting, I hate writing my bio. What to say? Since I was a child, I've been an animal lover and grew up with chickens, cats, dogs, birds, (borrowed) horses, and a pet rabbit. I currently have two cats that are adorable. My black cat snores and tries to climb the Christmas tree every year though she's too fat to get further than the first few branches, just enough to wreak all my careful work. I love dogs too, but the amount of work to take care of them just doesn't fit into my schedule.
I've been an atheist since I was about twelve or so and only became active in secular humanism in the last five years. I'm also a skeptic who has an unrequited love of fiction involving dragons and magic. Throw in a talking unicorn and you've captured my bygone tweenie heart. I'm married to a Muslim, a relationship that works best when we agree to respect each others religious/non-religious views. I did participate in Ramadan a few years ago because I agreed with the practice philosophically. While honey-bunny said fasting is healthy because it gives your liver a break so that it may regenerate, I appreciate the act of fasting in and of itself. Perhaps because I was raised by a shop-a-holic who could easily become a hoarder, I rather enjoy non-consumerism. That being said, I've wanted a new laptop for years now. My, I do like my contradictions.
I've always been an avid reader, but this journal is my first go in writing besides a few short stories I wrote about a decade ago. Posting online makes me slightly ill the way public speaking often affects people. We'll see if I get over that. For now, thanks for taking an interest. I do love open and respectful discussion, so comments on that vein are quite welcome.
As for the fic, many of the views expressed by the characters (even the main ones) do not reflect my own. It’s a different world with different rules, and these characters are all their own people, in a manner of speaking, so naturally have their own unique views on issues.
